A new Almoner is acknowledged

Allan Farrington the Local Care Officer for the Chorley Group visited Chorley Lodge No 6287 to acknowledge Norman Chandler as Almoner of the Lodge.

Allan said that he had been directed by the Provincial Grand Master to bring his best wishes to Norman and to formally read out the duties of an Almoner.

Allan also said that Almoners are at the sharp end of the Masonic Care System their role is to seek out those brethren and widows in need and to provide care and assistance where necessary. All Almoners have the backing of an extensive care system and have access to the Masonic Charities.

Norman thanked Allan for his words of encouragement and said that he had already had the opportunity to visit all the lodge widows and felt that he was doing something very worthwhile.
