Chorley Group Golf Day

The sixth annual Group Golf Day was held at Hindley Hall Golf Club.

Although the day was extremely breezy we avoided rain. All who took part had a really enjoyable day and agreed that the course was in excellent condition.

The father of, and Chairman of, the Society, Gilbert Pierce was rejuvenated on the day and won the competition convincingly. Ron Alker also had a very good

round to finish in second place. During Ron’s round he also achieved the longest drive, giving him an additional prize. Geoff Mort was mortified to be awarded

the Oswald Trophy for the worst drive from the first tee, particularly since both his playing partners found the water hazard.

The day ended with a convivial meal at the golf club, following which the Group Chairman and President of the Golf Society, John Robson, presented the prizes.
