Chorley Group bowlers must be water proof

It started out alright but then the heavens opened. Most people would have made for cover but Chorley Group bowlers are made of sterner stuff than that.

John Robson, Group Chairman, said that the Rivington Village Bowling Club is an excellent place to hold this competition, it would have been even better

had the rain held off. Every one stuck to their bowls and the drama and humour of the afternoon unfurled.

John thanked Ray Wilkinson, Chairman of the Group Bowls Committee and Stewart Rothwell, Secretary for organising the event.  

Irene Grundy won the Leonard Holt Ladies Trophy. The Masters and First Principles Trophy was won by Jack Grundy.

John Cooper snatched victory and the Oliver Hart Challenge Trophy from David Marshall. John will now go forward to the Provincial Bowls

competition on the 23 July in St Helens. John Robson wished John Cooper well in the forthcoming competition.
