Provincial Grand Master visits Anderton Lodge No 8470

It was planned as an ordinary meeting of the lodge but turned out to be quite extraordinary.

This was the meeting that Peter Hosker, Provincial Grand Master, chose to visit the lodge to thank David Kavanagh for being Provincial Junior Grand Warden for the year.

Peter said that this had been an excellent year with David and Michael Collins Provincial Senior Grand Warden playing their part in the achievement.

Peter also said that the ritual in the lodge was truly excellent. John Eckersley working the second degree tools in fine style, Gerald Lowe’s working of the Tracing Board was

word perfect and Andrew Ashton’s Charge was expressive and full of meaning. Rarely will anyone see such a fine display of ritual.

Peter thanked the lodge for their donation £1,250 to the West Lancashire Freemasons Charity. This was on top of the donation for the same amount to the WLFC at the

lodge’s installation in February and a further donation of £1,700 to local charities. Peter said that he was pleased to see that donations had started to find their way to

WLFC now the 2010 Festival had ended.

Greenhill Lodge No 6260 then joined Anderton Lodge for the festive board bringing the number of diners to 75.
