Two feasts in one night

For the second year running Malcolm Schofield has organised a very successful Chorley Sportsman’s dinner with proceeds of £2,450 being

donated to the Chorley Masonic Hall Appeal.

105 Brethren and friends gathered at the Chorley Masonic Hall for two feasts in one night. The first feast was of good food and wine the second

a veritable feast of sporting fun.

The entertainment line up for the evening was Billy Bean an extremely funny comedian.

This years star guest was football legend, Duncan McKenzie. His career in top flight football saw him playing at Nottingham Forest, Leeds, Everton,

Anderlecht and Chelsea. His party piece was jumping over a Mini Car. A feat he performed regularly for charity. Can you imagine the current UK’s most

valuable player being allowed to jump over a mini before a game. Duncan now works for Radio Five and as a newspaper reporter as well as being a very

popular after dinner speaker.

The whole evening was welded together by Norman Prince. Norman is best known as the former front man for the Houghton Weavers.

What an evening! Substantial amounts of sporting memorabilia were auctioned, with telephone bidding on one shirt.

The stories from Duncan McKenzie were a real insights into the sporting world and hilariously funny.

Malcolm thanked everyone for taking part in the evening and for making possible the donation to the hall but most of all he thanked everyone for enjoying themselves.
