Chorley Group Golf, Mike Wareing Challenge Trophy

The Mike Wareing Challenge Trophy is an annual competition between the Golf Societies of the Chorley and Wigan Groups. On this occasion it

was held at what has become the home of this event, Hart Common Golf Club.

Because of the strong wind, conditions on the day were extremely testing. However this appears to have suited the Chorley Group since we

enjoyed a very convincing victory.

Everyone was delighted that Anthony Bent APrGM and the Chairmen of the Chorley and Horwich Groups were able to join us for

the prize giving and an excellently prepared buffet.

Malcolm Taylor, Chairman of the Wigan Group faced the task of reluctantly presenting the Mike Wareing Trophy to a jubilant

John Robson, Chairman of the Chorley Group.

Peter Roberts, owner of Hart Common Golf Club, once again very generously offered courtesy of the course to all players.

The result was that over £300 was raised by the two societies for charity, which on this occasion will be donated to Derian House.
