Chorley Group members promoted at Provincial Grand Lodge
The Provincial Grand Lodge was a happy occasion for 11 members of the Chorley and District Group as they received their promotions. All but one was able
to attend in person to have the privilege of being invested by the Provincial Grand Master, Peter Hosker.
During the proceedings, Provincial Grand Lodge was called off and Mrs Laura Chapman, Chief Executive of the Grand Charity, gave a most interesting talk
on the ‘Freemasonry Cares’ initiative, the aim of which is to help freemasons, their families and dependants who have a financial, healthcare or family need,
to access a range of services available to them. A single freephone number is provided in order to access help, which can also be obtained via email or the
internet. In our Province the initiative is sponsored jointly by the Grand Charity and the West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity. Link
Several of the brethren promoted enjoyed an excellent celebration meal at the Blackpool Hilton Hotel, in company with their guests, the Group Officials and
other members of the Group.
Our own Assistant Provincial Grand Master, Ray Martland, proposed a humorous and entertaining toast to the health of the Provincial Grand Master, which
was well received by all present.
Proceedings finished shortly after 8.30 pm, giving all the opportunity of a relatively early return home.
