Chorley Group has an “Opinion” of DC’s

John Robson, Chorley Group Chairman, welcomed Ian Higham and Paul Hesketh both Deputy Grand Directors of Ceremonies to the DC’s workshop.

Ian and Paul explained that the purpose of the workshop was to guide lodge DC’s through an Installation with and Assistant Provincial Grand Master

“Chain” and no Provincial Director of Ceremonies. As a “Chain” has the luxury of a Provincial DC only twice a year there will be twenty or more

occasions when a Lodge DC will face this situation.

The workshop took the form of a walk through of an installation ceremony with guidance and practical experience on the lodge floor.

Ian and Paul shared their vast experience in a very polite but authoritative manner. As could be expected from an “opinion” of DC’s there was

a lively set of questions and answers. With pearls of wisdom such as “never set off unless you know where you’re going” and questions like

“is all tradition a mistake by a previous DC?” the evening was both interesting and informative.

A Guide for Directors of Ceremonies written by Immediate Past Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies Mark Dimelow was distributed.

An electronic copy is attached …here.

A copy of the Festive Board Top Table layout was also distributed and is attached … here.

John Robson thanked all those who had attended what was an excellent evening. He also thanked Ian and Paul for sharing their expertise.
