Ecclesholme Gala Dinner

The Association of Friends of Ecclesholme held its Charity Gala Dinner at Ashton (popularly known as Bryn) Masonic Hall. Well over 100 guests enjoyed

a five course gourmet meal of Duck, Spring Onion and Ginger Soup; Fillet of Trout & Smoked Salmon Salad; Passion Fruit and Mango Sorbet;

Braised Lamb Steak; Hot Berries & White Chocolate Ice Cream, followed by Coffee & Mints.

The toast to the Friends was proposed by Tony Bent, Assistant Provincial Grand Master, and, in his response, Ernest Daniel, Chairman of the Association,

praised the organisation of the evening and thanked all those who had played a part. He told those attending that since its foundation the Association had

raised very nearly £200,000 to improve the comfort of the residents of our five star home. He was also pleased to report that the Gala Dinners, which were

inaugurated in 2007, had contributed £5,500 to the cause.

The event was arranged by the Wigan Group, whose Chairman, Malcolm Taylor, admitted that most of the work had been done by the Group Secretary,

Stuart Blagg. The Chorley Group has a strong connection with the Friends as both the Secretary, Malcolm Warren, and the Treasurer, Steve Gregory,

are prominent members of the Group.

Our Chairman, John Robson, made amends for turning up in a lounge suit to a black tie event by offering to host a Gala Dinner in 2013.
