Standish Chapter Hosts Evening for Recent Exaltees
When Lindsay Barton completed his application form to be admitted into Standish Chapter, he cannot possibly
have imagined what a special occasion his exaltation would be. For as well as Lindsay’s exaltation Standish Chapter
hosted an evening for all recent Royal Arch Exaltees.
The Deputy Grand Superintendent, Steven Reid, accompanied by the Provincial Third Grand Principal, Harry E Ross,
and many other Supreme and Provincial Grand Chapter officers were present and, at appropriate opportunities
during the ceremony in which Lindsay Barton was exalted, Steven Reid provided explanations of the meaning and
relevance of selected parts of the ritual which gave everyone, exaltees and longer serving Companions alike,
a deeper and useful insight into the origins and significance of the Royal Arch Masonry.
Steven Reid explained that this was only the second of such events to be held in the Province, and he paid tribute
to the Principles and Companions of Standish Chapter for their enthusiasm in hosting it. Harry E Ross
emphasised the importance and benefits of visiting other Chapters, and reflected on the principles and tenets of
Royal Arch Masonry being part of a journey through life and their potential to enrich today’s society.
There was an overwhelming response from those who attended that the event had not only been enlightening,
but had provided the impetus for further research and for exchanges of visits to other Chapters.
