Objectives of the charity
1) The relief of Freemasons of the Province, their widows, children and dependants who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress.
2) To promote the education of children under the age of 25 who are in need of financial assistance and are resident in the Province.
3) Providing financial assistance to Masonic charitable funds or institutions or other charitable institutions as the trustees shall from time to time decide.
All applications for assistance should in the first instance be made to the Lodge Almoner, or if not available, contact should be made with the Local Care Officer or the Regional Care Officer. All applications are means tested and will be sent to the West Lancashire Freemasons Charity for consideration and forwarded on to the Grand Charity if considered appropriate
Application to the Masonic Samaritan fund or Masonic Residential/Nursing homes for long or short stay admission can be made direct but it is advisable to contact your Lodge Almoner who can give valuable assistance.
Non Masonic charities in the Province can request assistance by completing the application form and guidance notes that can be obtained from the Charities web site at www.westlancscharity.org.uk
The Local Care Officer will provide the application forms if required.
Grants provided are principally in the following areas:- Community Projects, Disability, Managed Voluntary Groups, Self-help Projects, Vulnerable People, and Youth Opportunities.
The completed form should then be sent direct to the Liverpool address printed on the form and guidance notes.
